Discover Paradise Unleashed
This fantastic East African holiday offers an authentic and adventurous safari experience in Nyerere National Park and Ruaha National Park in southern Tanzania. Following your exclusive safari trip, you will spend five nights on the tropical and remote Mafia Island in the Indian Ocean.
Day 1:
Dar es Salam Transfer to Nyerere National Park
Upon arrival at Dar es Salaam Airport, you will be met by a representative and transferred to the domestic terminal. You will then board your scheduled light aircraft flight to Nyerere National Park in southern Tanzania. A representative will meet you at the airstrip and drive you to your camp or lodge where you’ll stay for three nights.
Day 2-3:
On Safari in Nyerere National Park
Nyerere is Africa’s largest game reserve covering over 50,000sq km, yet it remains one of Tanzania’s least known reserves. The numbers of visitors to Nyerere are much lower than the northern parks.
The rivers and lakes of Nyerere host some phenomenal game, including the largest hippo and crocodile populations in Africa. Along the banks of the Rufiji River, you’ll find large herds of elephants, especially in the dry season (June to November). You can also expect to see good numbers of buffalo, giraffe, zebra, impala, eland, wildebeest, baboon, hyena, lion, leopard, and endangered African wild dog.
As Nyerere is formerly a game reserve, your guide can go off road in your safari vehicle and you can get much closer wildlife encounters than in national parks where you are restricted to the roads. In addition to morning and afternoon game drives, you can also enjoy bush walks and boat safaris.
Day 4:
Fly to Ruaha National Park
This morning you can enjoy one final game drive in Nyerere before being transferred back to the airstrip for your scheduled light aircraft flight to Ruaha National Park. On arrival, you will be met at the airstrip and driven to the camp or lodge where you’ll stay for three nights.
Day 5-6:
On Safari in Ruaha National Park
Enjoy two full days on safari in Ruaha National Park.
With an incredible concentration and diversity of wildlife, Ruaha is the most significant national park outside of the Serengeti. The main feature of the park is the Great Ruaha River which attracts an abundance of animals in the dry season.
The game viewing here is incredible and you can expect to see large herds of elephants, huge prides of lions and the endangered African wild dogs. The park is also home to some lesser known animals like the kudu, Roan and Sable antelope that enjoy the dry, open woodland areas.
Ngorongoro Crater tour and later back to Arusha.
The early risers are rewarded with breathtaking views of the rising sun over the crater’s edge. After a hearty breakfast, you will drive down the adventurous track into the crater. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is one of the Seven Wonders of Africa and the most incredible ecosystems on Earth. It was formed millions of years ago in the massive explosion of a volcano. It is 610m deep and covers roughly around 260sq km. Due to its dense animal population of approximately 25 000, the crater offers the best game viewing of all the parks in Tanzania. In a matter of minutes, you will be able to see wildebeests, zebras, gazelles, elephants and some of the more than 500 bird species in the area. With a little bit of luck, you might catch a glimpse of the endangered black rhino through the grass.
After lunch, you will ascend the steep walls of the crater and head to Arusha for an overnight stay.
