Day 1:
Arrival for Your Overnight in Arusha
Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport, you will be welcomed by a Meru Slopes transfer driver and taken to Arusha Planet Lodge within Arusha. The rest of the day will be spent at leisure and you can even relax at the hotel. In the evening, you will attend a briefing in preparation for the upcoming safari. Your accommodation is on a full-board basis.
Day 2:
Arusha to Tarangire National Park
Your Roar Quest safari guide will collect you from your accommodation after breakfast. This morning, you will drive to Tarangire National Park. The transit drive is approximately two and a half hours on good tarmac roads. The park is named after the Tarangire River which runs through it. This ‘river of warthogs’ is the only source of water for wildlife in the region during the dry season. The park is well known for its elephant families, which can often be seen congregating by the river. You may also see giraffes, bushbucks, and hartebeests. These animals are closely followed by a range of predators, including lions and leopards. There are more breeding species of birds found in Tarangire than anywhere else on the planet! The huge and ancient Baobab trees can be seen here. Some of them are said to have lived for more than a thousand years.
Lunch will be at a picnic site inside the park. After your game drive, you will transit to your accommodation in Karatu. Accommodation in the Retreat. Meal Plan Full Board.
Day 3:
Karatu to Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, you will continue towards the fertile highlands where wheat, coffee, and corn are grown by the Iraqw people. You’ll pass through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a crater of unimaginable beauty created some three million years ago with the explosion of a volcano. You will be able to see the breathtaking expanse of the Ngorongoro Caldera before traveling onwards to the Serengeti National Park. Serengeti means ‘endless plain’ in Maa, the tongue of the Maasai. You will reach Serengeti by late evening. The Serengeti National Park is the largest in Tanzania with diverse landscapes and habitats, such as grassy plains, swamps, lakes, savannahs, and mountains. Here, the biggest wildebeest and zebra migration takes place, and depending on the season, you may have the opportunity to witness thousands of animals in their search for food and water.
After an extensive game drive, you will drive to Heritage Tented Lodge where you will enjoy dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 4:
Serengeti National Park
This entire day is set aside for game drives in the Serengeti. The Serengeti boasts an abundance of wildlife, such as impala, buffalo, crocodile, and hippo. In addition to the iconic landscapes, you have a good chance of encountering predators such as lions, cheetahs, and leopards. It is a truly life-changing experience!
Today, it is possible to do early morning and late afternoon game drives, returning to the camp for lunch. Otherwise, a full day’s game drive with a picnic lunch in the park. Overnight stay at Heritage Tented Lodge. Full Board Based.
Day 5:
Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast, you will wind your way toward Ngorongoro Crater, enjoying more wonderful sights on the way! After an entire afternoon inside the crater, you will drive to your accommodation in Karatu.
Steep volcanic walls conceal Ngorongoro Crater, a pristine wilderness with sweeping savannah, acacia woodland pockets, glistening lakes, and swamps. The crater was created when a large volcano exploded and collapsed in on itself two to three million years ago. The drive down into the crater is an adventure in itself, and when you reach the crater floor, you will quickly find yourself amongst large numbers of wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, and more than 500 bird species. The crater provides you with the best chance of seeing the endangered black rhino, which can sometimes be spotted in the open grasslands. Overnight stay at Ngoro ngoro Marera Mountain View Lodge. Full Board Based.
Day 6:
Lake Manyara National Park
This morning, you will drive to Lake Manyara National Park—your final destination on this epic safari! Lake Manyara National Park is a small but diverse park 120km west of Arusha. Everything you will see here is on a different scale. It is both compact (one of the narrowest parks in Africa) and epic (the Great Rift Escarpment towers over Lake Manyara’s western boundary). The park’s namesake is a shallow salt lake. It covers a large area of the park, flooding and drying with the seasons, and is home to thousands of wading birds (including flamingos and over 500 other bird species). You may see baboons and elephants in the park’s thick evergreen forest and look out for the tree-climbing lions that have become famous throughout Africa.
You will enjoy a picnic lunch inside the park. After your game drive, we will drop you off at a place you choose, e.g., Arusha, Kilimanjaro International Airport, or Arusha Airport. We hope you have enjoyed your adventure
